Speaker:

Joanne Frankel Kelvin, RN, MSN, AOCN, received her BSN and MSN degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and has specialized in oncology throughout most of her 36-year nursing career. During that time, she has worked in a variety of roles and settings and has been at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center since 1987. In 2009, she established the Cancer and Fertility Program to ensure patients are informed about options for fertility preservation before cancer treatment and for building a family after treatment. As the Clinical Nurse Specialist for the program, her responsibilities include education and counseling of patients, development of resources for patients and clinicians, education of staff, and facilitation of clinical research within MSKCC related to reproductive health of cancer survivors. Joanne has published and presented in the areas of cancer and fertility, sexual health and survivorship, and radiation oncology, her previous specialty. She is a member of the LIVESTRONG Fertility Advisory Group and is a co-investigator on Moffitt Cancer Center’s R-25 training grant to educate nurses about cancer and fertility.
